Youth MOVE held its first movie night facilitated by its Youth Advisory Board (YAB). The group decided to focus on the benefits of expressing yourself through journaling. The YAB decided on the movie, Freedom Writers, because the students in the movie found positive ways to express themselves. After the movie, the guests played the line game (from the movie). In the line game, the players step forward when the facilitator asks or says something that applies to them. This allowed the group to see that they aren’t the only ones in their situation. The people that attended the movie night thought it was fun and productive. Our evaluations show that our guests enjoyed the event and would likely attend again.
